I Am From Poem
Reading/Vocabulary Reflections

When understanding people of different cultures it is important to look at where they are from.  As an Educator, Husband, Father, and Minister, I must know the person in order to have relationship with them.  Beginning that journey, I must first know where I am from.

I Am From . . .

I am from small town Nebraska
      where everyone knows your name.
I am from Church school and Sunday school
      and from learning from Mom.
I am from times around the dining table
full of puns, spankings, and hilarious laughs

I am from soccer games, football and basketball too
      and now we include golf.
I am from holloween candy, easter candy, valentine candy
Christmas candy and now rotton teeth.
I am from loving times and memories at holidays
     especially Christmas

I am from formerly Bill and Carol,
no Bill and Sandy as well as Carol and Drew.
I am from brothers and sisters
     and the memories we made.
I am from Church camp where a love was kindled
for Jesus and His saving grace.

I am from marriage and children
     and giving them my all.
I am from a ever busy and rushed life,
     searching for the simple life.
I am from, I am from, I am from. . .
